I was driving around looking for something to paint and came across this barn flanked by two silos. I liked the long shadows and late afternoon sunlight.
Up north last summer I came across this Ford pickup sitting in the sun. Never painted a whole vehicle as a single focal point before and it was more challenging than I expected.
I was out driving late autumn in the backroads of northern Illinois and came across this scene. I liked the way the telephone poles and wires act like a gateway into the scene ahead, and I liked the warm colors of the harvested fields with the cool green grass bordering the cinder road.
Not too many people choose to paint the back of the historic Woodstock Opera House but we were walking downtown last summer and came upon the pickup truck in front of the half opened door and I snapped the picture.
This painting has been keeping me busy for a couple months. I've posted smaller iterations of this scene which led up to this bigger painting. I have never painted such a big painting and actually really enjoyed dealing with each section in detail. I have the online mentoring of Kim Casebeer to thank for any success I might have had.
