#23 - Moe and Caillebotte

11" x 14" Oil on canvas panel

Been working on this bigger painting for a couple weeks. Last October, my wife and I spent a day downtown Chicago at the Art Institute and I took a picture of her admiring one of her favorite paintings, 'Rainy Day in Paris', by Caillebotte. Props to Karin Jurick for the inspiration. She's one of my favorite artists working today and trying this myself makes me appreciate her talent all the more.

#22 - Plymouth Rocks

5" x 7" Oil on canvas board

I have been unable to paint as much as I'd like this week because the brutally cold temperatures and snow in Chicago have made life a bit miserable. So, instead of painting when I got home from work I was shoveling snow. Arg. The winter weather made me want to paint a scene from a nice warm week we spent in Duxbury, MA on Plymouth Bay this past summer. Thanks for checking in.

#21 - Resolution Wrecker

6" x 6" Oil on canvas panel
As I started painting this I realized it was a study in ellipses. From the rim of the glass with a level of milk to the Oreo stack on the small round plate. As always, I plan to try this one again.

Happy New Year!

Image Comparison

I am trying to improve my photographic images this year and today took some time with some settings on our camera. Here is the best I've been able to achieve today vs. the image from my iPhone the other day.
