We were fortunate to spend some quality time on a beautiful mountain lake recently and the view from the dock was spectacular.
Waking up dormant artistic aptitude by painting as often as possible.

This one is from June, and I am way behind posting. Look for new paintings over the next 6 days. This is from a trip to a local nursery when the whole summer was in front of us!
Loved the shadow patterns on the image I painting this from. That and the warmth of the sunshine on the barn compared to the cool shadows.
This was a from a picture taken while driving west to visit our son in Kansas City. God is the ultimate artist! Just look at those colors.
This painting and the one previous were done on two consecutive days when I was limiting myself to 2-hours to complete the painting. I try to do this every so often, especially when I feel like I'm tightening up in my paintings and spending too much time on details. Working fast and loose is a good antidote!
As we are still in the grip of cold weather here in northern Illinois, I went searching among my archived photos and found this scene from beautiful summer day.
The photo reference for this painting was again supplied by my California son. I like the desolate landscape surrounding the classic old VW buses on the desert highway.
